I can't believe what they're telling you, with only 1300 miles you shouldn't have to do anyting of that nature. Jeez, at that mileage breakin is barely complete.
What kind of gas do you burn ? Is there a chance dirt might have gotten into the fuel system somehow ? There are lots of adjustments on carbs, maybe one of the setscrews etc. has come out of adjustment from vibration or something. Is there another mechanic in another bike shop you can talk to for an opinion ?
